I hadn't realized that the weekend just started. It started all over again on Friday morning when I finally got up. Me, John Muhammad, and Gold D headed over to The Clevlander for brunch and more music. Can you imagine going to a party at 11am in the morning? We met up with Mynia and Mona Dee and got things going. They had a party going on indoors and one going on the patio. We went with the latter. Talk about action. It was about 75 degrees already and people everywhere. This was a party sponsered by traxsource.com. The guest included Jamie Lewis and others who I never heard. Some guy that looks like Glenn Underground was up cuttin' up the pavement. He was getting his groove on. Everything on the menu including the appetitizers started at $7.95 on up. You know I had to have my Strong Island or two. Anyway the music was banging. I got the chance to met the whole crew from The UDM Show. It was a dead giveaway because they had their t-shirts on. Mark Stone, Armando Gomez and Valentino where here, all the way from Switzerland. By the way check there show out on CHR on Sundays at 9pm CST.
Later that evening after I re-grouped from that high ass tab from the Clevlander (clevlander.com), I headed over to The Ristorante di Bertuccio WMC Chicago Welcoming Party hosted by Motha Diva. The party got off to a late start because the New Jersey party was still going. I met their whole crew, including Jihad Muhammad, Pookie, DJ Les Cole and others. They brought a large support base with them including a dance crew that was pure raw. Them New Yorkers be getting it on the dancefloor! So after a heavy exchange of business cards and cd's, I finally got on the box. Motha Diva talked during the first part of my set. Just when I was getting ready to tell her to put a sock in it, the noise stopped. Usually going first means you are in the rookie spot or a peon paying his dues. Either way I wasn't mad because I wanted to check out some of the other parties. DJ Snooze came on next, then Steve 'Silk' Hurley. George Jackson didn't play because of the schedule. He still had a good time. The place was loaded with House celebrities. DJ Skip came in with Steve Hurley. Fast Eddie and DJ Jes was hanging at the bar with me with a cold Corona and a shot of Tequila. Mmm, mmm... good! Leornard Part Sixx, Greg Grey, K Big, Mynia, Mona Dee, John Muhammad, Gold D and a host of others were hanging. It was a pleasure to hear Steve Hurley play after all of these years.
Saturday is going to be hot too. We are getting ready this morning to go eat brunch and head over to the cyberjamz.com afternoon party. Jamie 3:26, DJ Pierre, Timmy Richardson and I believe Barry B and others will be playing at this set. The hotel is on Washington, real close to all of the events, so that helps out. I caught hell last night trying to roll my record bag around. It was windy and around 67 degrees. Like I should complain. Later tonight is the real deal going down at the mansion. Chicago is here holding it down with this off the hook event. Steve 'Silk' Hurley, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Jamie Principle and some others I didn't name will be in this big ass mansion. d**n. Life is good.
I'll tell you about the Sunday line-up with Jazzy Jeff, Todd Terry, Kenny 'Dope'Gonzolez, Terry Hunter and more later. I'm going to try to squeeze in the DJ Competition today over at The Wydham.
To be continued...
